4/14/07 - Several additions have been made and many more are on the way! For starters, the E-H and I-L pages in the custom knifemakers database have been completed, adding a mass of information to the site. We've taken a short break from this section in order to add more knives to the custom knives galleries section and the for sale section. In the galleries, check out a couple of knives I picked up at the New York Custom Knife Show this past February. There's a superb folder by Allen Elishewitz and an incredible one-of-a-kind collaboration balisong by Darrel Ralph and Warren Thomas - a truly unique knife.
In the custom knives for sale section, we've added a hand-forged take-down fighter / bowie by Karl Andersen and a couple of great skinners by ABS Journeyman Smith, Rusty Polk, including the "Computer Skinner" a really awesome knife for someone who wants something "beyond different."
Speaking of Rusty Polk, we're working with him to bring you some great hand forged steel and damascus knives. Check back real soon for his awesome cutting competition bowie knife and an amazing heat collored damascus art dagger with a fluted handle and 14k gold inlay, both available for sale! We'll also be hosting an article we're doing on Mr. Polk so our visitors can find out more about who he is and where he's going.
4/21/07 - As promised last time, per the request of several of our visitors, we're happy to say we've aquired some more, great, hand-forged knives made by ABS Journeyman Bladesmith, Rusty Polk! These new knives do a great job of showing what kind of work Rusty is really capable of as they represent the award winning knives he created to take home the "Best Bowie Knife" and "Best Damascus" awards from the KGA Show (Oklahoma City) in 2006.
One is a superb art dagger, made with Rusty's own hand-forged damascus, and includes a fluted Cocobolo wood handle with a 14k gold rope wrap. The other is Rusty's own competition bowie knife. This is the knife Rusty uses for cutting competitions at shows. (of course, this one is brand new.) These and other fine knives are all available in our "Knives for Sale" section!
We are also glad to bring you our newest "Featured KnifeMaker" profile all about Rusty Polk, how he got started, where he is, and where he's headed. We think it's a great companion to the knives we have available by Rusty in order to inform our visitors and customers about the person who made the knives they're buying. If you read the profile, please don't hesitate to give us feedback on your opinion about the article using the web pole at the bottom of the profile page. The thoughts and feelings of our visitors are extremely important to us - much of KnifemakersDatabase.com is based on what the majority of the custom knife community would like to see. The "next featured maker" box, also at the bottom of the page is also important because we plan to tally all the names we've been getting to decide on upcomming articles.
More knives, articles, profiles and all sorts of other great "custom knife" stuff comming soon! Thanks for all your support and keep comming back!
5/20/07 - KDM is proud to announce the introduction of David Roeder Custom Knives, now available at KnifeMakersDatabase.com! We will soon have a featured maker profile for Mr. Roeder as well, so keep checking back.
As we have taken the last month to completely re-optimize KMD, there have been few visual updates. Also, it's that time of year again when many knifemakers and bladesmiths are busy preparing for the Blade Show. We have a slew of updates in the works, including new featured-makers, new custom knives and the completion of the database itself. There is much to look forward to, so keep coming back!
We also want to thank our clients and visitors. There's been a recent increase in traffic as well as returning visitors. Thank you all for your support, your emails and your phone calls. We appreciate every one of them. If it weren’t for you, we'd never have come this far! Keep your comments and suggestions coming!
5/23/07 - We are proud to bring you our next "Featured Knifemaker" at KnifeMakers
Database.com! This time, it's Karl B. Andersen of Andersen Forge. Karl is a professional bladesmith and a Take-Down knife specialist. We've had a knife on KMD by Karl, but it sold so fast we could hardly even believe it! Don't worry though. We have two more awesome take-down knives comming in shortly. Pictures of these two high performance blades are also located in Karl's "Featured Maker" page. ETA: Mid-June.
On Karl's page, you'll find out where he's been, where he is and where he's headed in the world of high performance hand-forged knives as well as about the knives he makes, so don't miss out on this new "Featured Maker" page on your site for custom knives and custom knife information - KnifeMakersDatabase.com!

Aside from the available knives, we're glad to say that the Database Project is nearly complete for the National Section. You may now surf the links by first name first or last name first, which ever you find more suitable. Please note that you may search any page for a name, knife or even to see who has knives avaialable by simply pressing ctrl + F on your keyboard, and entering your query. This works exceptionally well in our database section.
We will make an announcement once the section is 100% filled in and when we will start the International Section! E-mail me with any comments, questions or observations!
6/24/07 - We've added our first knife from custom knifemaker, Buddy Gaines. You can find it in the for sale section or in the slideshow right above! Some of the finest pearl I've seen in a long time - it's a great knife at a really great price. Check it out! We will be adding more knives soon, including another competition style bowie from Rusty Polk Don't forget the new Andersen Take-Down's! More updates soon so keep coming back!
6/25/07 - After over a year of construction, the National section of the Knife Makers Database is complete! Although there will always be new sites to add, the initial version is now complete with all the blanks filled in. You may now search the entire resource of over 700 knifemakers by first or last name. You may see who has new knives available or examples of each makers work using the links supplied on the right side of the screen for each maker. You may search for a key term or maker on each page by pressing "crtl + F". We will begin the construction of an International Database shortly. For now, there's a lot of sites to look at. One of the best ways to learn who's who in the custom knife field is to browse the knifemaker's sites. Read their Bio's and get aquainted with each maker's individual style. We will be adding a ton of information over the next few months so keep coming back!
8/27/07 - More new knives will be arriving shortly so keep checking back. We are also extremely happy to say that we will begin hosting a select assortment of knives by Knifemaker, Craig Mann of Mann Made Knives. Craig has been honing his craft for a few years and has decided to offer his knives up for sale to the public. We were really stunned when we recieved a batch of six knives, one more awesome then the next! And so, we at KnifeMakersDatabase.com are proud and honored to have Craig working with us to bring you his vision of what cutlery should be though our growing site! This is a first time ever on the web introduction of this new knifemaker! DO NOT MISS OUT ON WHAT MAY BE THE NEXT BEST SELECTION OF SUPREME TACTICAL CUTLERY! Trust me, you will not be disapointed! Our series will continue as our next article will go further in depth concerning the wonderful world of steel, breaking down steel classes, their uses, pros & cons, and more. 06/1/09 - Summer's here and we want to kick off the season with a bunch of great new knives! For starters, we'll be getting in some beautiful hunters from custom knifemaker Eddie Gunther. Mr. Gunther hails from Auckland, New Zealand. As a rule, KMD carries knives that excell in both aesthetic value and performance by knifemakers who show a keen eye for detail and strive to bring us work that exhibits the finest fit and finish that we all love and admire so much. Mr. Gunther's knives will be available by mid-june. Don't miss out!
06/8/09 - Our second run of Mann Made Knives is in - and we couldn't be more impressed! Craig is quickly gaining recognition for his extremely tough, extremely sharp O-1 blades that look as good as they perform. Craig continues to bring us awesome, field ready weapons that boast a fusion of modern tactical and traditional Japanese designs.
For the record, KnifeMakersDatabase.com, now in its third year on-line, has a 100% customer satisfaction record with no complaints and no returns. However, not many customers take the time to send an email expressing their satisfaction upon receiving their order. This is understandable. People are busy. I don't email every company I place orders with to let them know how everything went. For some reason though, those customers who purchased a Mann Made Knife must have felt they just had to let us know how happy they were, because every one sent us emails stating how impressed they were with the knives they bought. My favorite was from a gentleman who purchased one of the first Mann knives on our site who stated:
"Finally, someone who doesn't exaggerate when talking about
how sharp a blade is. If it doesn't take the hair off your arm,
it's not razor sharp. This knife is truly razor sharp and holds
that keen edge to boot! My arm is bald.
Thanks Joe and thank-you Craig!"
And thank you sir! We all hope your arm hair makes a swift and pain free recovery. Next time, we recommend sticking to one "test area" if you can contain yourself! Remember, KMD does not endorse shaving with our knives. If you cut yourself, don't call me.
