What is the Purpose of This Site?
The knifemaker's data base (KMD) is an extensive collection of knifemaker's from all around the world. Our goal is to bring all those maker's together under one roof so that the knife collector has a single, all-comprehensive resource at his disposal. This resource is a kind of gateway to every other knifemaker on the web so that no one site gets lost in this chaos called cyberspace. I myself have found that my favorite knifemakers had been around on the web LONG before I knew it and had only stumbled on their sites by a rare chance. This site is meant to prevent such a scenario from occurring and to bring an awareness to the collector and potential customer of each and every knifemaker there is. We also sell fine custom knives for individuals by consignment. See the "KMD Services" page or send an email to consignmentdept@knifemakersdatabase.com to learn more.
How Does This Site Work?
The way this site operates is simple. The team at Knifemaker's Database (KMD) has compiled a long list of websites belonging to hundreds of different knfemakers around the globe. By creating a site that contains all of that information in one area, and making sure that it shows up whenever knife collectors across the world search for knife sites on the Internet, we increase the chances of discovery of any knifemakers site associated with our site by ten-fold. The team at KMD works extremely hard with Google, Yahoo!, and many other major search engine companies to rank our site high on their search result pages. This is called Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is usually costly , and even more so in the time it takes to implement properly, especially by a single individual. This is when having a team behind you is not only essential, but very profitable as well!
At KMD, "We are your team."
How Can I Be a Part of This Site?
Becoming a part of the Knifemaker's Database is very easy. All we ask is that you place a small link on your site to us if we include your site in our database. This is not mandatory, just a humble request. By doing this with many knifemaker's, a kind of ring is created. This site becomes a portal, or a centerpoint from which thousands of knife collectors and customers are able to find your site. This method is guaranteed to increase traffic to your site, create new customers and in turn, increase your overall profitability. Remember, I have a large database of knifemakers on and off the web. We will probably contact you before KMD officially takes off. If we missed you however, feel free to send us an Email requesting to be a part of KMD.
How Can I Benefit From This Site?
By participating in the Knifemaker's Database, a link to your site is placed on ours. Because our site ranks high when people make search engine queries, a sure path to your site is created starting from the top of the list! This means no more having to be lucky enough that a potential customer decided to scroll through 27 pages of search results and happened to stumble across your site! Our site lets knife collectors and buyers know that your site is alive and well and offering knives that he or she may have never seen otherwise.
The Knifemaker's Database also plans to advertise with various well known knife dealers and companies such as "Blade" magazine and "Knife World" magazine.
There are other ways to benefit from our site as well. If you need another place to sell your knives or if you don't have a site and need a fully customized, professional page to advertise yourself on, we will do it all for you! You can contact the owner of KMD through our contact page and he will be glad to discuss your potential options with you.
Will it Cost Me Anything To Get On Your Site?
Absolutely NOT! We do not charging a dime for knifemaker's to have links to their sites included in our database!
On the other hand, websites, especially good ones (and KMD is a top notch design website using modern SEO technology) cost money to operate. In this case, we do offer several advertising possibilities to knifemakers. Advertising on KMD will further expose your link by setting it apart on special pages. Advertising possibilities include banners, graphic links and even full pages on our website, which we will design for you! From this page, you will be able to promote your work, write a biography on who you are and even display your work / knives for sale! For an example of what we can do for you, Click Here.
You do not have to advertise with us to be listed in our database. This is a free service.
More on Advertisements is explained below.

What About Advertisements?
The Knifemaker's Database (KMD) does not charge for most of it's services, especially to the knifemakers who make this all possible to begin with. Running a website however, is not free. In fact, it can get rather expensive when so much time, effort, research and technology is put into it. KMD guarantees to generate more traffic to your website, thus increasing your overall profit margin.
We advertise for you, for free.
As mentioned before, larger scale advertising is available

up to 10% of all profits (after costs are covered) through advertising will go to support the Knifemaker's Guild and the American Bladesmith Society.
The rest will hopefully be enough to turn this project into the dream I've always had.
Anything leftover, well I might as well let it out... Whatever is left will go toward my journey to be a Master Bladesmith. I plan to save up to move from New York and enroll in the Texarkana School of Bladesmithing.
What Makes KMD Different From Other Sites?
You may have seen sites that contain tons of links to knife related sites before while surfing the net, and you may be asking yourself,
"Well, I've already found places on the net where I can go to find links to knife makers, so why should I use KMD? What makes Knifemakersdatabase.com so different? Is it different?"
Yes - we're different! And there are several reasons why:
- 1) We have more knife makers on our site than anywhere else on the Internet. Period. While there are sites that claim to have thousands of links to knife resources, no single site has as many links to knife makers from all around the world as we do. In fact, its probably safe to say that no 2 or 3 sites combined have as many as we do.
- 2) Our links are working 99.9% of the time. We leave a 0.01 chance of a link not working for the fact that at time, a certain makers site may go down or off-line for a moment. With over 600 knife makers sites, its probable that some body may be having a problem with their site.
- 3) Our links are guaranteed to take you to where we say they will take you, always. We never post "blind" links, that take you to a site that you wouldn't want to go to. Some sites do this for reasons of profit and to cover advertising agreements in a sneaky way. Our team is completely against such practices. Our policy is that customer satisfaction comes before profits - every time.
- 4) Our system is more organized than that of any other site we know. This was a constant goal that we have kept in mind since the production of the first page of our site and still do now. Here, you won't find hundreds of links scattered all over the place. You'll never get that "where the heck do I go next?" kind of feeling that we all know and hate. We want to give you the opportunity to visit knifemakers from around the world from the comfort of your home. Making you feel like you've been running all over the world by the time you're done would defeat the purpose!
- 5) We list our resources in such a way that you always know what kind of site you'll be going to. Our Knife Makers links are listed in alphabetical order and are kept separate from our resource, supply and associative links. As you will see, day by day we will be further detailing our data making information such as a knifemakers associations, price ranges, knife types, site details and more instantly available to you. This data is being indexed in a search engine which will allow you to search both our entire site or just the database. You will be able to find the types of knifemakers you're looking for in a matter of seconds by separating or categorizing them with keywords. For example, if you wanted to see only the makers from the American Bladesmith society, you might use the keyword, "ABS" to see only those knife makers. Remember, this site is in its early stages of development. The features described above should be available to you by next month.
- 6) We want to let you take a trip around the world, visiting knife makers in Ireland, Italy, Germany, Sweden, The Netherlands, Brazil, Japan, Australia - We have links to knifemakers located on 6 continents and many, many countries. There are sites out there that list only knifemakers who pay them a monthly or yearly fee... Basically, those sites are saying, "We will pick and choose who you get to deal with and buy from!" We don't agree with this practice. Buying a custom knife is a personal experience. Who you buy your knife from is a choice made by you for many personal reasons. As the customer, you should have access to not a dozen knife makers or a hundred knife makers to choose from, but all of them. If we charged knife makers to be listed in our database, you would have a limited amount of access to the resources you deserve. Even if one choice is missing - your resources become restricted. Of course, we do offer services to knifemakers for a small fee, but the benefit of being listed in our database is free of any charge. Our policy is to employ no practice that would have an adverse effect on the knife maker and knife collector alike.
- 7) We are a team of dedicated professionals - computer whizzes, business men, photographers, service personnel, management personnel, web designers... the thing we all have in common is our love for the world of custom knives and custom knife collecting. We are enthusiasts, purveyors, entrepreneurs but at heart, we are always collectors. We all own knives that we would never sell; knives that have become a part of us. And because of this, we know how to treat our customers and our clients. We are open, friendly, and are always willing to answer any questions you may have concerning this ultimate hobby. We take time daily to check up on our emails and see what our supporters have to say. So don't be shy! If you have anything to say at all, feel free to shoot us an email and we'll reply as soon as we can. Our supporters, our customers and our clients are our life blood. Our services are especially for you. At KnifeMakersDatabase.com , we truly care about you and your experience with us and our site. From all of us at KMD ~ Thank You!
