This skinner is hand forged from 5160 carbon steel. The blade has been heat treated so that the edge is super hard while the spine remains more flexible, giving the knife a maximum degree of toughness and hardness. The heat treat line visible in the steel is art in itself. The blade is flat ground for a hair splitting edge that holds, and holds… and holds. The steel is hand finished to a satin sheen while the very edge glistens with a mirror shine. The construction is hidden tang with a variation. Pins reinforce the handle construction for extra strength giving the knife a hard, solid feel. I’ve held this knife and just didn’t want to let go – the fanatic collector knows what I mean.
This is Rusty's 20th hand-forged J.S. knife. Rusty has won several awards including best Damascus, and the esteemed, "Journeyman Smith of the Year." Rusty plans to go for his Mastersmith Stamp in the near future. I don't think I need to say more to explain what a great investment this knife can be.
