Hugh Kerr has been making quality custom knives for over 10 years now.
He primarily makes drop point hunting knives using 440C or ATS-34 steel
and a variety of natural and stabalized materials for the handles.
This is a model K-112 African Blackwood Fighter.
Hugh uses a model number system so you can order a similar knife on his
website that he will make for you. He does all his own heat treating, etching,
and he makes great sheaths for every knife and for other knifemakers in the
area as well.
This model K-112 is honestly one of the most comfortabe knives I've ever held
in my hand. The weight, balance and feel of the grip is perfect for me and
truly feels like every knife should - an extension of the arm.
The blade is made of ATS-34 which has been hardened, tempered and polished
to a mirror finish. Hugh has also done some nice etching on the blade for
some added appeal.
The handle is African Blackwood, which is supper hard and smooth, with solid
brass fittings and mosiac pins. A really sweet knife!
